I joined the C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S swap in my C-R-A-F-T Yahoo Group. In it I was paired up with one other member and we were to find out likes/dislikes of each other and send one gift for each letter in the word Christmas. Here is what I received from my partner Lauren:
Everything is so nice! The table topper looks great on the table my dad made me which sits in my entryway and holds my cinnamon pine cones. And that angel is sooo cute! I am going to have to take some pictures this holiday to put in those frames. Maybe we can make a new family tradition of filling them every year.
So spurred on by warm fuzzies, I ventured into my sewing room. I just couldn't get started on anything Christmassy, but I have been thinking about fairies and the next thing I knew, I was working on another of my "art quilt" things. I guess they are really more of a fabric based mixed media piece, but I never did know what to call them. Here is the picture I am doing. I got it from Karen's Whimsy.
And here is what I have done so far. Doesn't look like much, but this part is pretty tedious. Of course she will not be naked and he will have a body. And also of course her hair will not look like that. I am just trying it out. It is a little more "red" than it looks here. I gave her green eyes and I thought the auburn hair would look nice. I went and painted her face before I had tied off the strings in her fingers, so that's why they are still hanging there. Anyhow, it's a start. You have to get your feet wet before you can swim, eh?
Art quilts, quilting, sewing, and fun stuff!
