Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
There were only 6 of us for dinner, but it was me and 5 men. And these men eat enough that it ends up like feeding at least a few more! Plus since our guests are all single, they all go home loaded down with leftovers. The day before Thanksgiving was my baby’s 20th birthday and we saved the requisite ice cream cake for desert after the turkey.
Today was all about recuperating. All morning I just wanted to lay around and nap. I can blame some of it on the tryptophan from the turkey we keep picking at, but I also know I did a lot yesterday because I am sore pretty much from the waist up. But I couldn’t let the whole day slip away and when I finally made it into my sewing room, I was able to get another bird added to my tree skirt.
I also made a little backpack for my grandson. He loves to fish but he has a lot of trouble carrying his tackle box while hiking to the chosen spot. He’s a little guy and needs his hands to get over the rough spots. So I put this together for him.
The pocket is wonky, but I was too tired to tear it out. I will, though.
There adjustable straps on the back. They are too long and will need to be shortened. I’ll do that when I fix the pocket. They were belts in their first life. They came with some shorts I bought for my son. He loved the shorts but never wore the belts.
There is a zipper that goes all around 3 sides and inside is the plastic box with adjustable dividers for him to put his sinkers and bobbers and other things in. I think he’ll make good use of this.

The backpack is totally adorable. You are so clever!
That's a great fishing backpack!! I think the best part of meals is when you get leftovers!!
Sounds like a great thanksgiving day.
I love the fishing backpack. I think the wonky pocket is cute for a little boy. I do believe I would leave it - an maybe applique a worm crawling out of it.
Your cardinal is beautiful.Cannot wait to see the finished tree skirt.
